The Moroccans will look to continue their winning run without their former star player, while Al-Hilal go in search of their first win

RBS Berkane begin life without former star striker Ayoub El-Kaabi when they seek to cling to Caf Confederation Group B top-spot by hosting Al-Masry on Wednesday.

El-Kaabi last week joined Chinese Super League side Hebei Fortune in a big-money move after an astonishing six-month period which included some top-scoring exploits at the African Nations Championship (Chan).

After netting an awe-inspiring nine goals at Chan, the highest ever individual tally at the tournament, El-Kaabi earned himself a place in Morocco's World Cup squad.

A brace in Berkane’s last Confederation Cup match away at Mozambican side UD Songo plus an assist in the 1-0 win over Al-Hilal will definitely make the Moroccans miss him at the Stade Municipal de Berkane on Wednesday.

Togolese forward Fo-Doh Kodjo Laba is expected to take over the target man role from El-Kaabi.

While Berkane are making their debut appearance in the Confederation Cup group stages, their lack of experience in the tournament has not shown as they have won their two group matches so far.

But a big test awaits them at home against Al-Masry who are not only just two points behind them in second place, but are yet to taste defeat.

Al-Masry’s last match was a trip to Sudan where they held Al-Hilal to a 1-1 draw and they are now on the road again hoping to climb to the group's summit with a win in Morocco.

Al-Masry will worry about what transpires in another Group B affair between Al-Hilal and Songo in Omdurman.

A win for Al-Hilal who have just a point, could help the Sudanese occupy second position in the event Al Masry lose to Berkane.

With Songo having lost their first two games in which they conceded four goals and failed to score, Al-Hilal will fancy their chances of victory.
