Caf Confederation Cup: Gor Mahia players to undergo doping test

Gor Mahia players will undergo doping test after their Caf Confederation Cup match on Wednesday.

The Kenyan champions will take on USM Alger in their second Group match at Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday night. K’Ogalo drew their first match against Rayon Sports 1-1 away while USM Algers beat Young Africans (Yanga) 4-0 at home.

Caf have sent ant-doping officer Mustafa Mofty, who will conduct the exercise and submit the required report. “We conduct such tests to keep the game clean and promote its good name. There should be openness and fairness and this is one way of promoting such,” Mofty told Gor Mahia official website.

The process is simple – two players and officials from both sides will head to the doping room where a random draw of shirt numbers will be done with just 15 minutes to the final whistle.

The picked players will then head straight to the doping room immediately after the match for the urine test to be conducted and results be known on a later date.
