Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Buchanan says to wear the colours of the country’s most supported club is a dream come true as his level of professionalism and focus has improved too.

“It is the club I have supported as a kid, the biggest club in Africa with a rich history and heritage. As a player to be associated with such a club is a dream come true,” Buchanan told Puma.

“It has boosted my confidence to know that I can hold my own at such a huge stage. My level of professionalism and focus has also improved greatly.

Playing the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates is the biggest moment in Buchanan's career so far, while his ambitions for the year ahead is to be a regular starter for the club and break through to the Bafana Bafana set-up.

“It was the biggest moment in my career so far, it’s everyone’s dream to play in the Soweto derby. I was very nervous and excited at the same time, a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life,” Buchanan said.

The Capetonian has made only six appearances in all competitions for the club since the start of the season.

His ambition is to win as many trophies as possible with the Glamour Boys starting after last season’s drought in the Chiefs cabinet.

“To firstly cement my place in the starting eleven at Kaizer Chiefs, to win as many trophies as possible and to break into the Bafana Bafana team,” Buchanan added.

At the age of 24, it is natural for Buchanan to harbor ambitions to play in Europe, with his preferred destination being Spain which he says suits the way he plays and view football.

“It is a lifelong dream to play overseas. Spain is my preferred league as it suits the way I play and view football,” Buchanan concluded.
