Bloemfontein Celtic fans can be rest assured that their beloved team will not be sold as eight new players were unveiled ahead of the 2018/19 campaign at the Southern Sun, in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
The new players are Thato Lingwati (from Jomo Cosmos), Rendani Ndou (Polokwane City), Maloisane Ramasimong (Bantu FC, Lesotho), Tebogo Potsane (Free State Stars), Ryan De Jongh (Platinum Stars), Tani Mpusana (Stellenbosch FC), Bongani Sam (loan return, Highlands Park) and Langa Mvana from the reserve side.
De Jongh signed a three-year deal with Celtic where he will reunite with Steve Komphela. The two worked together at Maritzburg United over three seasons ago.
The midfielder was with Platinum Stars (now Cape Umoya) who relocating to the Western Cape following their relegation to the National first Division.
Returning on loan from Highlands Park is Sam. The left-back was part of the Lions of the North rock-solid defence that only conceded 13 goals, recorded three defeats and six draws in 30 matches as the Tembisa-based side gained automatic promotion to the PSL.
Ex-Polokwane City striker Ndou will be eager to find his goalscoring form at his new home after only hitting the back of net four times in 22 appearances for Rise and Shine last season, while Ramasimong had a stellar season with Bantu FC, winning the Econet Premier League and being named the Players' Player of the Season as well as the Player of the Season awards.
Lingwati, was the backbone of the Jomo Cosmos defence for the past five seasons, but left after they failed to secure promotion through the PSL Promotional/Relegation play-offs.
On the other hand, Potsane, Mpusane and Mvana will all be eager to make a name for themselves at Celtic and impress Komphela in the new season.Despite reports that Celtic players have not received their salaries days after normal pay day, the Free State-based side looks ready and will host Chippa United in their opening clash of the new season at the Dr Molemela Stadium on August 5.
