Shongwe still has a year to run on his contract with Wits, and should he fail to secure a move away before August 31, he will be required to stay

Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira hopes the club can resolve the future of Jabulani Shongwe before the transfer window closes on August 31.

“We have had some offers from a number of clubs; some of which we declined and some of which the player declined,” Ferreira told The Sowetan .

With Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates reported to be monitoring Shongwe's situation, the Students refused to confirm or deny the reports.

Baroka FC are said to have put forward a R2 million offer for the midfielder's services, but the player turned it down as he didn't want to relocate to Limpopo.

The 27-year-old is not part of coach Gavin Hunt’s plans for the new season and he didn't taken part in their pre-season camp in Stellenbosch recently.

Should they fail to sell the left-footed player before the closing of the transfer window, Ferreira admitted that Shongwe would be obliged to honour his contract with them.

“The transfer window remains open until the 31st of August and I promise you that between now and then there are going to be players coming our way and others going the other way. A lot is still going to happen during the course of the month and we just have to wait and see what happens,” Ferreira said.
