Matsatsantsa’s focus now shifts to the Caf Confederation Cup, and coach Stuart Baxter is hoping to get their African adventure off to a winning start. The Tshwane side welcome Guinean club Horoya AC to Tshwane on Friday evening.
“I’m happy with the players’ effort. The lads worked their socks off against (Cape Town City),” Baxter told SunSport.
“I’m determined to help the club do well in the Confed Cup group stages, try and finish third in the league and win the Nedbank Cup again. So, we have plenty to play for.”
The newly appointed Bafana Bafana coach has admitted that he has limited knowledge of the Guinean league champions.
“I don’t know that much about them,” Baxter admits.
“What we have learnt is that defensively they are good and not a bad side away from home. They don’t concede a lot of goals. It is important to win our home games in the group stages of the competition,” he continued.
Nonetheless, Baxter has stated that he will rotate his squad for the clash due to the congested fixture schedule.
“I would love to keep the side that played against City, as they did so well,” Baxter said.
“But that won’t be possible with Chippa (United) around the corner. I will be selecting different sides for Caf and Chippa,” Baxter concluded.
