Aubrey Ngoma told us he wants to join Sundowns, reveals Cape Town City boss Comitis

Masandawana's relentless pursuit of the Citizens' playmaker could finally pay off in the coming weeks

Cape Town City look to be loosening their grip on Aubrey Ngoma as the January transfer window fast approaches.

Mamelodi Sundowns have been long-term admirers of the 28-year-old winger, even coming close to landing his signature at the beginning of the season. But the Citizens held firm on their ‘not for sale’ stance especially after losing Lebogang Manyama to Turkish club Konyaspor.

However, with only days remaining until the January transfer window reopens, speculation surrounding the future of Ngoma is once again rife and it seems that this time around City boss John Comitis is resigned to losing their influential playmaker.

“Aubrey told us earlier during the season that he wants to join Sundowns,” Comitis admitted to Independent Media.

"If they strike the deal then we will talk.

"We need to be realistic. He hasn’t played much (because of an injury). He has done well in the little game time he has had. But we can’t hang onto player whose mind is elsewhere,” he added.

"We gave Sundowns the proposal and they know what they need to do if they want to have Aubrey,” Comitis explained.

Furthermore, the publication goes on to mention that should City agree to a deal with Sundowns then Mogakolodi Ngele could move in the opposite direction.

Ngele has found game-time hard to come by ever since returning from his loan spell at Bidvest Wits and it is believed that the Mother City-based outfit are eyeing the 27-year-old as Ngoma’s potential replacement.
