Former Ghana youth international Abraham Aseidu Attobrah has joined Iraqi Premier League club Al Shorta in a six-month deal.

The 22-year-old was on the verge of signing a three-year move with Hearts of Oak after impressing head coach Frank Nuttall but the deal fell through.

"I have always relished to have an opportunity to play outside Ghana again so I didn't hesitate when this offer came. Moreover, Hearts of Oak were slow during negotiations so I decided to move on," Attobrah said.

"The Iraqi Premier League isn't bad as some people want Ghanaians to believe. I think with hard work I will be able to achieve some features in Iraq so that other players will also get some opportunities as a result. I'm impressed so far with what I've seen here and hope to start playing very soon," he added.

Attobrah, who also featured for Ghana Premier League side New Edubiase United, was part of Ghana U20 squad that participated in the 2015 World Youth Championship.

He has become the second Ghanaian to land a deal in Iraq this month after Samuel Afful who joined Al Talaba until the end of the season.
