Our tipster fancies Jokanovic’s Cottagers to celebrate promotion to the Premier League on Saturday by edging out Steve Bruce’s Villans at Wembley

Fulham and Aston Villa battle for promotion to the Premier League in the Championship play-off final.

The Whites are 4/6 (1.67) with bet365 to return to the promised land after four years away, while Villa are 11/10 (2.10) to lift the trophy and thus limit their top flight exile to two years.

Latest odds

Steve Bruce’s side are 11/5 (3.2) to secure victory in 90 minutes, who secured passage to Wembley after Mile Jedinak scored the only goal of their two-legged semi-final clash with Middlesbrough.

Villa lost 2-0 though in their previous meeting with Fulham, who are 5/4 (2.25) to win this game without extra-time.

A draw, which occurred in last year’s final between Reading and Huddersfield Town before the latter won on penalties, is 11/5 (3.2).

Team news

Ahmed Elmohamady missed Villa’s last game with a muscular injury and will require a late fitness test, whilst Alan Hutton should continue to deputise at left-back due to Neil Taylor’s hamstring problem

Goalkeeper Jed Steer (shoulder) and utility man Axel Tuanzebe (foot) are unlikely to feature.

Fulham’s Sheyi Ojo is out and while Floyd Ayite is back from a hamstring problem, Aboubakar Kamara is likely to .

Cottagers to take control?

Fulham have won 22 and drawn six of their last 32 Championship matches, form that would have put them five points above title-winning Wolves over a whole season.

Although recent below-par performances against Sunderland and Birmingham City invited a little scrutiny, a controlled display in their 2-0 second leg win over the Rams answered questions over their big-game mentality.

For that reason, the 11/4 (3.75) on them winning the first half and ending the game victorious is tempting.

Preview and predictions

Seven of Fulham’s last 10 games have seen two or fewer goals, as have six of Villa’s last seven. For our best bet therefore, we’re taking the 10/3 (4.33) on a Whites win with under 2.5 goals.
