Ajax Cape Town have confirmed the departure of Muhsin Ertugral as head coach.
The Turkish-born tactician took over the reins in December of 2017 as he looked to keep Ajax in South African football’s top flight.
However, he was unable to do so as the Urban Warriors were subsequently relegated following a long-drawn out court battle.
Ertugral though stayed on as head coach as he looked to mastermind a quick return, but after a less than impressive start to their National First Division (NFD) campaign, the club have confirmed his decision to step down with immediate effect.
“Muhsin stepped into a very difficult situation in December 2017, taking over the reigns from Stanley Menzo and due to unfortunate court drama after the end of the 2017-18 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, the Urban Warriors were relegated to the National First Division (NFD),” a statement issued by the club on Sunday read.

“His dedication and love for the club remained there up until his last game in charge, but unfortunately results were not forthcoming,” it continued.
"Muhsin offered to resign this morning, Sunday November 11, and his resignation has been accepted by the board,” the statement further revealed.
Meanwhile, Ajax CEO Ari Efstathiou expressed his gratitude to Ertugral and wished the former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach well in his future endeavours.
“We wish Muhsin well in all his future endeavours and thank him for his efforts over the past 11 months,” Efstathiou said.
"His commitment to the club is unquestionable especially when he offered to stay on at the club and help the team in their quest be promoted back to the Absa Premiership,” Efstathiou concluded.
