Having agreed terms with the Harmony Warriors, the former Niger Tornadoes gaffer will be in charge of the team following the dismissal of John Obuh

Nigeria Professional Football League side Kwara United have appointed Abubakar Bala as their new technical adviser.

The post became vacant following the sack of erstwhile gaffer John Obuh 24 hours after the Harmony Warriors played out a 1-1 draw against El Kanemi Warriors in Ilorin.

Bala, before his appointment, was not short of admirers as both Gombe United and Heartland had sought his services, having steered Niger Tornadoes to the Federation Cup final in 2017.

Having agreed to a one-year deal, the Nigeria U20 assistant coach has expressed delight at securing the job as he vows to help the team retain their top-flight status this season.

"I was offered a one-year deal and I agreed to terms with the team on Monday and I will travel to Ilorin for the unveiling and contract signing on Wednesday," Bala told Goal.

"It is a honour to coach a reputable club like Kwara United and I'm looking forward to making the best of it.

"I believe that I have the experience and the capacity to take the team out of their current position. It is no doubt a tough task but I think nothing is impossible."

"Since I was contacted by the management, we have been discussing the way forward and also reached an understanding on how to get the team back on track," he continued.

"I could be a young manager in the top-flight coaching but my track records with Niger Tornadoes speak for itself.

"I took them from the relegation zone at the middle of the season to end at 11th position and also got to the final of the Federation Cup.

"I sincerely desire the great support of the management, the fans and people of Kwara state to make the task of getting the team out of relegation a possibility."
