Mozambique name Chan squad for South Africa 2014

Mozambique have announced their 23-man squad for the African Nations Championship (Chan)
The 'Mambas' will face the hosts, South Africa, in the opening match of the tournament on the 11th of January at the Cape Town Stadium.

Liga Muculmana striker Apson David “Sonito” Majante, who underwent trials at PSL champions Kaizer Chiefs a few weeks ago, was named in the 23-man squad.

As reported by Goal a few weeks ago, Sonito finished as the top goalscorer in the Mozambican league last season, but the 28-year-old striker failed to impress the Amakhosi technical team.

According to the Mozambican Football Federation, the Mambas are expected to leave for Johannesburg on Thursday, January 2, and are scheduled to play DR Congo two days later in a friendly match.

The Mambas will also play a friendly match against Libya on Tuesday, January 7, in Cape Town.

Mozambique are in Group A which also includes Mali and Nigeria.
