Chippa United chairman, Chippa Mpengesi, has claimed that his club has signed Burkina Faso striker Aristide Bance on a three-year deal despite the player having been seen training with Bidvest Wits during the week.
Wits have since confirmed that the lanky striker will not be signing with them after failing to sufficiently impress Gavin Hunt who decided to sign Portuguese striker Joaquim Lupeta instead.
Hunt had also boosted his forward line the week before with the signing of Polokwane City’s Roggert Nyundu.
Mpengesi has, however, jumped on the chance to sign the former Bundesliga player.
“We signed a three year deal with him and he will come back here to South Africa,” Mpengesi told Goal.
“He will be forming part of the Chilli Boys and it’s a done deal,” he declared emphatically.
The centre forward has had a journeyman career that has seen him play for two Bundesliga sides, FSV Mainz and FC Augsburg, as well as spending spells at clubs in Finland, Ukraine, The UAE and Belgium.
Bance had a decent goal return playing for Mainz, netting 28 goals in 67 appearances, and for Lokeren in Belgium he scored 27 goals in 73 games. He did, however, struggle after moving to Augsburg, only scoring once in 21 games.
With his proven goalscoring ability, and at just 30-years-old, this looks to be another high profile signing for Chippa United after they picked up Mark Mayambela earlier in the transfer window.
