Former Chiefs defender Onismor Bhasera close to Bidvest Wits move

Gavin Hunt confirms that former AmaKhosi left-back Onismor Bhasera is close to joining Bidvest Wits on a free transfer

Former Kaizer Chiefs full-back Onismor Bhasera is close to joining Bidvest Wits if Gavin Hunt’s words are anything to go by.

Hunt told reporters after the announcement of the MTN 8 semi-final draw at the PSL offices on Monday that the Zimbabwean defender is joining them.

“He is looking quite good since he came in. I think he’s in a great shape and can still do a lot in the PSL. I’m adding him to my squad [Wits],” said Hunt.

Bhasera has been in the country for a while now, and although the club had previously denied their interest in the player, Hunt certainly rates him highly.

The 27-year-old Bhasera is currently without a club after leaving England-based side Plymouth Argyle earlier this year, meaning Wits wouldn’t pay a cent to lure him back to South Africa.

The former Matsatsantsa coach also confirmed that they are not done with signing players, as they are still looking to sign a winger before the end of the month.

“You never say you done with acquisitions until the window closes, but on a serious note, we are still looking for a winger and that should be all,” added Hunt.
