The 23-year-old midfielder is still in search of a new club having terminated his contract with the Belgian side Lierse SK.
He has had trials at another Premier League outfit Everton and Scottish giants Celtic, but nothing came out of it as he remains without a club.
However, it is not known at this stage whether Claasen will be able to meet the minimum requirements and eventually earn a working visa to play in England.

Claasen has only seven Bafana caps under his belt, and he has never disappointed whenever playing for the South African national team.
He was part of the Bafana squad that beat Central African Republic in the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier match back in March, but he never got a chance to play and he was dropped for the qualifiers against CAR and Ethiopia.
