Roger Feutmba has said that Mamelodi Sundowns star Teko Modise deserves a new deal at the club because of his contributions to the team in recent times.
The 33-year-old’s contract runs down at the end of the season with no real traction being made yet with regards to a fresh deal being offered.
Feutmba thus mentioned that it would be a mistake if he is allowed to leave as his experience would be vital to the team.
“I think that considering his age and what he has achieved with Sundowns already, it will be a mistake for him to leave,” Feutmba told Goal.
“Normally, it will also be a mistake for those managing Sundowns to let him go. So I believe that they will give him another contract and I believe he still has a lot to give to the team.
“He is good player, everybody knows about that, he has contributed a lot to the recent success of the team and can still do more.
“So for me, it will be out of frustration to let him go. Now they have to give him another contract because he deserves to be in the team.
“Like I always say competitions are really high at Sundowns at the moment but I believe Teko is around 33.
“For me, if you take proper care of your body if you are a disciplined player and I believe he is, you can see he has a lot to offer three or four years still. Saying so I still believe he has a huge role to play in the team at the moment.
“Yes, it’s true that they have Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat but if you notice they are different type of players and Teko with the experience he can guide them and the young ones coming in. So for me he still has to carry on playing for Sundowns. He had a great game you remember the Telkom Knockout against Kaizer Chiefs so that shows you need him in the team,” Feutmba added.
