Former Manchester City and Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari has told Goal that he is settling in well at his new club Bidvest Wits.

Benjani was signed at the beginning of the season and he is yet to find his goalscoring form that made him one of the best African strikers in the world, but he says winning as a team is more important.

“It is so far so good for me. The fact that we have been collecting points means the team is doing well. Overall, I think we are playing well, but what’s important is winning games,” Benjani told Goal.

The former Blackburn Rovers forward is certain that once he starts scoring goals then he will never stop, and he believes it just a matter of time before he finds the back of the net on a regular basis.

“I am not worried about not scoring goals, because it’s not like I am not getting chances. I am getting chances, but I am missing them.

“But that’s a good sign and I think once I score that one important goal then the goals will start coming. It’s just a matter of time,” he said.

The 35-year-old Benjani says he has not set himself any targets for the season, but says he is happy to contribute towards ensuring the success of Bidvest Wits.

“I didn’t set any targets for this season. I want to contribute to the team’s success. Even if I don’t score and the team wins then I will be fine with it,” added Benjani.
