Bidvest Wits are making major changes to their squad before the start of the 2013/2014 season, with James Mayinga, Thapelo Tshilo and Aaron Mokoena all being released by the club.
The trio of players’ contracts expired at the club and Wits have decided to not renew them. Former Bafana Bafana and English Premier League defender Aaron Mokoena will be considering where his future lies after losing out on a new contract at the Braamfontein-based club.
Mokoena joined Wits at the beginning of the 2012/2013 season, but only made 14 appearances for the club due to injury and lack of form.

The former Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers defender is in the twilight years of his footballing career at the age of 32 and will be seeking a new club to try and re-ignite his largely unsuccessful return to South African shores.
Mokoena would bring an experienced head to any club which is willing to scoop up the now free agent. His international and club experience trumps the majority of players plying their trade in the PSL.
Thapelo Tshilo moved from Jomo Cosmos to the Clever Boys at the beginning of the 2012/2013 season, but the 28-year-old defender failed to make a single start for his new side and spent the majority of the season on the sidelines.

James Mayinga became the third defender to be released by Wits, with the 35-year-old unable to build on his 14 appearances he made last season.
Gavin Hunt’s tenure at Bidvest Wits has seen the former SuperSport United coach bring in Benjani Mwaruwari, while Matthew Booth is still likely to join the Clever Boys next season.
