Ajax Cape Town have played their final card in avoiding the drop this season by bringing in former coach Muhsin Ertugral as Technical Director of the PSL club.
Following the news Jan Versleijen has announced his formal resignation from his post as Head Coach of the Urban Warriors stating in an official press release.
"With the latest turn of events where the club has appointed a new Head of Technical, which I do not agree with, I have made the decision to step down as the Head Coach of Ajax CT."
"Further, l am very disappointed in the manner in which I found out about this new appointment of Head of Technìcal.
"I would like to thank the club for the opportunity afforded to me and I wish the club and its
supporters the very best with their current challenge in saving relegatìon and its future."
Ertugral coached Ajax in 2006/2007 and 2009 and returns once more to help stave off relegation for the Cape Town side.
The former Kaizer Chiefs coach will need to call upon all of his coaching experience in the PSL in order to help his faltering side from succumbing to the ill-fated drop.

With four matches remaining this season, Ajax are currently placed 15th on the PSL log with 23 points from 26 games. Bidvest Wits and Black Leopards have inflicted defeats on the side in their last two outings.
The PSL stalwarts have been hampered by inexperience and inconsistent management, with the appointment of Versleijen leading to a string of poor results.
The result has meant that Cape Town could be without representation in South Africa's top-flight next season as both Chippa United and Ajax Cape Town look destined to face the drop into the National First Division.
The Urban Warriors face relegation rivals Chippa United on Saturday night, which will be Ertugral's first real test in his new position.
He will have to inspire his team to new heights against glory-bound Kaizer Chiefs in their following match, with an away trip to Maritzburg United and a home match against Golden Arrows also awaiting the Urban Warriors.
