Igesund keeps his job as Bafana coach..for now

The decision was taken during a meeting held at the Safa House today (Thursday) under the new leadership of President Danny Jordaan
The South African Football Association (Safa) has officially confirmed that Gordon Igesund will continue at Bafana Bafana until the end of his contract in June.

Igesund submitted his technical report to his bosses today (Thursday), explaining why Bafana crashed out in the first round of the 2014 Chan tournament.

And despite media reports that the former Manning Rangers coach will be sacked, the association has decided to give him another chance to save his job.

Jordaan confirmed they will review Igesund's performance at the end of his contract together with the performances of other national team coaches.

Goal reported that Safa has already earmarked a few candidates to take the Bafana job after the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, with Stephen Keshi and Carlos Queiroz reportedly been tipped for the job.

However, the decision to whether renew Igesund's stay will depend on how well Bafana do in their upcoming games, according to Safa.

Igesund will, on Friday, announce the squad that will face Brazil in an international friendly on March 5.
