French manager Didier Olle-Nicolle has been appointed as head coach of Benin, succeeding Manuel Amoros, who had been under fire from officials and fans since he assumed office in 2012.
The 52-year-old former defender arrived in the Benin capital Cotonou during the weekend where he was presented to the press by the Football Federation.
Olle-Nicolle beat off competition from former Ghana coach Milovan Rajevic and Frenchman Hubert Velud, both of whom were also on the shortlist.
Olle-Nicolle agreed on a two year contract and has been tasked with qualifying the national team to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Benin appeared last at the showpiece in 2010.
