Commentary

Thanks for joining us for this live coverage of the 1-1 draw between Newcastle United and Norwich City in the Premier League.
That draw means that the hosts are still winless in the league, and remain rooted to the bottom of the table. It doesn't bode well for Newcastle as they have now not won in any of their first 14 Premier League games this season. Only three teams have done that before, and all of those teams ended up getting relegated come the end of the season. The visitors meanwhile are now unbeaten in four and actually move up a place to 18th. They are now just three points from safety but face a tricky trip to Tottenham next.
And so this crucial encounter at the bottom of the Premier League finishes 1-1, with both sides taking a point. The hosts started the game the better but saw themselves down to ten men early on after Clark brought down Pukki as the striker charged in on goal. The visitors were perhaps unlucky not to go into the break in front, and they went behind on 61 minutes after Gilmour handled from a Fernandez header at goal. Wilson took the penalty, and Krul got a hand to it but could only send it off his own crossbar and into the net to make it 1-0 to Howe's men. Norwich hunted for an equaliser though and found one on 79 minutes as Giannoulis headed a cross back to Pukki, who smashed his effort into the roof of the net to equalise. The visitors looked the more likely to find a winner and nearly did so through Idah and then Lees-Melou, however neither could convert and the game finishes level.
90' + 7' FULL-TIME: NEWCASTLE UNITED 1-1 NORWICH CITY
90' + 6' Lees-Melou manages to get on the end of the free-kick and divert it to the edge of the box. Rupp fires at goal but it's blocked and then Lees-Melou tries a curling effort that Dubravka is able to get behind.
90' + 5' The visitors have a free-kick in the dying seconds. Can they get a dramatic late winner here?
90' + 3' Norwich should have had a winner! Lees-Melou drives into the box and it looks as if he is going to spark wild celebrations from the visitors, but Dubravka is able to save it with his leg and send it over his crossbar. What a save that was.
90' + 2' The Canaries are pressing for a late winner here. They send a couple of crosses into the Newcastle area but the home defence are able to scramble them clear.
90' Joelinton tries to send a cross to the back post but gets it badly wrong and it flies behind for a Krul goal-kick.
88' What a chance for the visitors! Idah gets on the end of a lofted through ball from Aarons, however he blazes his half-volley over the bar when he should have done better.
87' Shelvey is okay to continue and we are back playing.
85' Shelvey is down receiving treatment after a collision in the box.
83' The visitors are looking the more likely to find a dramatic winner as they are camped on the edge of the Newcastle box.
81' That goal sets us up for an exciting remainder of the game as both sides look for the three points.
D. Giannoulis
Assist
Norwich City
79' Giannoulis managed to find Pukki in the box before the Finnish striker rifled home.
T. Pukki
Goal
Norwich City
79' Norwich are level!!! A Rupp cross is flapped at by Dubravka and Giannoulis sends it back across goal. Pukki takes the volleyed effort first time and smashes it into the roof of the net. It's a super finish that makes the scoreline 1-1.
M. Almirón
A. Saint-Maximin
Newcastle United
77' Howe puts on Almiron for Saint-Maximin.
75' The hosts should have a second! Wilson sends a hopeful cross in that Hayden somehow nearly squeezes in between Krul and the goal before it runs away from danger. That was a real mix-up in the Norwich defence that they nearly paid for.
D. Giannoulis
B. Williams
Norwich City
73' Giannoulis is on for Williams.
I. Hayden
J. Willock
Newcastle United
73' Willock is replaced by Hayden.
71' Substitute Idah thinks his side should have a corner after he sends an effort over from the edge of the box, however the referee gives a goal-kick after deciding that there was no deflection.
69' Saint-Maximin drives into the box after he was played in by Wilson, but his effort is high and wide of Krul's goal. A player of his quality should really be doing better there.
A. Idah
J. Sargent
Norwich City
67' Smith puts on Idah for Sargent as he searches for an equaliser.
65' Norwich are looking for a quick reply here but as of yet haven't been able to fashion a real chance.
63' Norwich last went four top-flight games unbeaten in February 2013. Will they be able to get back into this game and match that run here?
C. Wilson
Penalty Goal
Newcastle United
61' Wilson makes it 1-0!!! He is a lucky boy though, as Krul guesses correctly and dives to his left. He tips it onto his own crossbar, but it ends up deflecting into the net. The Magpies are in front, and what an important goal that could end up being.
60' After the referee has had a look at it, he gives the penalty! It's going to be Wilson to take...
58' The referee is heading over to the screen on the touchline to have a look at this penalty decision. This is a big moment in the game.
56' Shelvey swings a corner in and a Fernandez header towards goal appears to come off Gilmour's arm. There will be a VAR check. Do the hosts have a penalty?
54' Joelinton thinks he has a penalty after Williams appears to catch him with a flailing leg. Referee Madley disagrees though and waves play on.
52' The home side haven't won any of their 13 Premier League games this season. Only three teams haven't won in their first 14 matches, and all of those teams ended up getting relegated.
50' The Canaries have never won a Premier League game on a Tuesday in 14 attempts.
48' It's been a cagey start to the second half as both sides look to settle back into the game after the break.
46' The hosts get us back underway for the second period.
P. Lees Melou
C. Tzolis
Norwich City
46' Lees-Melou comes on for Tzolis at the break.
These are two sides who need the points as they struggle at the wrong end of the table. Which manager will be brave enough to go attacking and try and get the all-important victory?
So we go to the break goalless as both sides have failed to create many clear-cut chances. The hosts started the game brightly and were doing most of the early attacking but the pattern of the game changed when Pukki got on the wrong side of Clark and charged in on goal. The centre-back made the decision to bring down the Norwich man and was made to pay, as referee Andy Madley sent him off. The visitors probably shaded the rest of the half and perhaps could've been in front after Sargent and Tzolis had chances, but they couldn't convert and we go to the break with the scoreline 0-0.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: NEWCASTLE UNITED 0-0 NORWICH CITY
45' + 1' Williams finds Tzolis who tries to squeeze it in at the near post, however Dubravka is down comfortably enough to get to his right and gather it.
45' There will be two minutes of additional time added on at the end of this first half.
43' McLean fires well over from distance when he had other options available. That ended up being a really poor decision.
41' Wilson tries to find space on the edge of the box to get a shot away at goal but the visitors' defence does well to crowd him out, forcing him to pass backwards. The momentum of the attack is lost and the Canaries are able to get the ball back.
39' The Magpies have conceded more Premier League goals than any other team this season.
37' Tzolis cuts in from the left before firing at the far corner. Manquillo is able to block it and send it behind for a corner, which ultimately comes to nothing.
35' Willock dribbles down the left before picking out Wilson in the box with a low cross to the edge of the box. The striker takes aim but can only fire well over.
34' Norwich have had 62% of the possession so far in this match.
32' Aarons whips a ball into the area and Tzolis gets on the end of it but he can only send a tame header straight at Dubravka under pressure from Schar.
30' A long ball into the box falls to Sargent but Schar does well to block it.
28' The visitors have a big chance! Sargent gets on the end of a low Tzolis cross but Lewis does just enough to get in front of it and block it behind.
26' Neither side has been able to fashion a real clear-cut chance yet. Who will be able to unlock the opposition defence?
24' Schar is down injured temporarily but looks okay to continue. The hosts really can't afford to lose another centre-back in this match.
22' This is the first game where the Magpies have started the day bottom of the table since October 2015, when they thrashed Norwich 6-2 with Georginio Wijnaldum scoring four times.
20' Aarons is up and in the next phase of play, Joelinton sends a rasping effort from outside the box just over. That was a decent effort from the Brazilian.
19' Aarons is down grabbing at his leg after a coming together with Shelvey on the touchline.
17' The Canaries have won two of their last three Premier League matches against Newcastle, as many as they had in their previous 10 top-flight meetings.
15' That early red card really changes the complexion of the game. Norwich look to be growing in confidence as they have more and more of the ball, and will surely fancy their chances of a positive result now.
13' Shelvey tries to find Willock with a crossfield ball but it ends up going well over the former Arsenal man's head for a throw-in.
F. Fernández
R. Fraser
Newcastle United
11' As a result of the red card, Howe brings on Fernandez for Fraser to fill the gap at centre-half.
11' Gilmour bends the resulting free-kick over the wall and Dubravka is forced to scramble across goal and push it behind for a corner.
C. Clark
Red Card
Newcastle United
9' Clark is off! The centre-back clears it but it hits Pukki before the Finnish striker starts bearing down on goal. Clark decides to bring him down and the referee gives the free-kick and then sends the centre-back off.
7' The hosts haven’t lost in their last nine home league games against their opponents here.
5' Shelvey rattles an effort at goal from distance that ends up flying harmlessly over Krul's net.
3' Lewis sends an early cross into the box but Williams is able to head it clear.
1' The visitors kick us off and we are underway.
The two teams make their way out onto the field of play.
Visiting boss Dean Smith goes with two alterations from the 0-0 draw at home to Wolves last time out with Rupp and Tzolis starting in place of Milot Rashica and Mathias Normann, neither of whom feature on the bench due to injury.
Home manager Eddie Howe makes three changes from the 2-0 defeat away at Arsenal, with Manquillo, Clark and Lewis coming in. Krafth is on the bench, while Matt Ritchie and Jamal Lascelles miss out through suspension.
SUBS: Pierre Lees-Melou, Ozan Kabak, Dimitrios Giannoulis, Adam Idah, Kieran Dowell, Jacob Lungi Sorensen, Angus Gunn, Przemyslaw Placheta, Andrew Omobamidele.
NORWICH CITY (4-1-4-1): Tim Krul; Max Aarons, Grant Hanley, Ben Gibson, Brandon Williams; Lukas Rupp; Joshua Sargent, Billy Gilmour, Kenny McLean, Christos Tzolis; Teemu Pukki.
SUBS: Jeff Hendrick, Jacob Murphy, Dwight Gayle, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almiron, Isaac Hayden, Karl Darlow, Federico Fernandez, Emil Krafth.
NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-4-2): Martin Dubravka; Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schar, Ciaran Clark, Jamal Lewis; Ryan Fraser, Jonjo Shelvey, Joseph Willock, Allan Saint-Maximin; Callum Wilson, Joelinton.
The visitors meanwhile are in 19th position, just three points above their opponents. They are unbeaten in three though, and have won two of those games despite having a change of manager in that time.
The hosts come into this game bottom of the table, and are the only team in the league that are yet to win a game this season. They are six points from safety, and could really do with finding that first victory here to help steer themselves up the table.
