Mohun Bagan will play their fourth consecutive home match of the ongoing I-League 2017/18 season on Tuesday against I-League newbies Neroca FC. The Green and Maroons are on the back of a disappointing outing against Lajong, where they managed a 1-1 draw.
Both Sony Norde and Ansumana Kromah stayed out of the fixture against Lajong due to knee and groin injuries respectively. With just two foreigners in their starting XI, the Kolkata side struggled. They were ahead by a goal in the first half thanks to a penalty strike from Dipanda Dicka, but Samuel Lamuanpuia's spot-kick cancelled out Bagan's lead.
Their woes further increased when star defender Eze Kingsley was shown a red card. The defender will miss the tie against Neroca tomorrow. With Norde and Kromah yet to attain match fitness and Kingsley suspended, Sanjoy Sen will be a tensed man when they take the field against the Manipuri side.
Neroca's start to their debut campaign in I-League was not an ideal one as they suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Minerva Punjab FC. But they bounced back strongly with back-to-back wins against South Indian sides Gokulam Kerala FC and Chennai City FC.
Gift Raikhan has a quality squad to boast about with likes of experienced Indian players like Gouramangi Singh, Subhash Singh, Sushil Kumar Singh and others. The Manipuri brigade is capable of snatching away at least a point from Kolkata if they produce quality football.
