Could do little about Hulk's opener but was a calm presence at the back. Rallied the troops from the back and pushed them forward with some excellent distribution. Made a stunning save from Hulk in the second half.
A towering presence at the back. Won a free kick which Suarez scored with a mazy run from centre-back.
Defended brilliantly and got forward to great effect as is so often the case. Did not allow Zenit to break in behind him.
Used his strength well defensively and got forward to good effect. Provided the cross for Allen to score and crossed well all night.
Bar his early mistake which allowed Hulk to score, the veteran used his experience brilliantly to keep the Zenit attack quiet.
Pressed at breakneck speed and created Allen's goal with a great pass for Enrique to cross. Subbed late on after tiring.
Showed the willingness to take the ball which has deserted him on the big occasion in the past. Worked exceptionally hard, too.
Led from the front by chasing every ball down and using possession well. Gave up free kick duties twice to allow Suarez to dispatch. Not a bad call.
Capped his best performance for Liverpool since the opening part of the season with a goal. Unfortunate to be subbed after a brave performance.
Still not back at his best but did not look far off as he snapped into tackles and pressed brilliantly.
Keeps getting better. Tormented the Zenit defence and scored two free kicks, the second of which was a world-class effort.
Made a fabulous save to deny Allen but saw the Welshman sweep home off the rebound. Beaten by two free kicks, the first courtesy of a poor wall and the second due to the brilliance of Suarez.
Gave away the foul for Suarez's free kick before being beaten to the ball for Allen's goal. Subbed at half-time with an injury.
Never threatened by a traditional winger on his flank until Assaidi came on. Looked uncomfortable from then on
Defended fairly well on the whole as Zenit were beaten by set pieces. Moved to centre-back after Lombaerts was went off and was fortunate to get away with a handball in the box.
Never looked comfortable and conceded a free kick for a foul on Luis Suarez which the Uruguayan promptly dispatched.
His main contribution was giving away a foul and then arguing with the referee prior to Suarez scoring.
Saw very little of the ball in an attacking sense and spent much of the game failing to track Johnson from right-back.
One of the few Zenit players to show intelligence in possession as Liverpool dominated. A cool head in the maelstrom.
Part of a midfield which was dominated from the first minute to the last. Poor in possession and off the ball.
Looked a threat on the counterattack but was taken off at half-time to allow Zenit to take a more defensive approach.
Always looked dangerous on the break. Took his goal exceptionally well after pouncing on Carragher's mistake.
Hit the side netting with a well-hit shot in the box shortly after coming on. Did not always pick the right option after working good positions.
Added trickery to the attack late on. The Zenit defence could not handle his dangerous running.
Showed some nice touches but could not provide the cutting edge for Liverpool to score the late fourth goal.
