Video: Ex-Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns star Thembinkosi Lorch scores a cheeky panenka to help Wydad Casablanca storm into the CAF Champions League group stage

Thembibkosi Lorch was on target as Wydad Casablanca hammered Asante Kotoko 5-1 on Friday to reach the CAF Champions League group stage 6-1 on aggregate.

After a 1-0 away victory in the first leg of this second preliminary round, Wydad were then unstoppable in their own backyard.

Lorch converted an audacious penalty kick to make it 3-0 for the Moroccan giants, who went on to roll past their visitors from Ghana.

Lorch has scored three goals in six games in all competitions for Wydad so far this season.

If he continues with his form, he could impress Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos to be considered for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The former Orlando Pirates man has struggled to win the heart of Broos even when in top form, including impressive performances at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Only two months are left before the AFCON tournament, and that appears to be little time for Lorch to grab Broos' attention.

This comes as the Belgian is expected to announce his squad for the tournament in early December.
