    TELL ME MORE

Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their six-point advantage at the summit of the Premier Soccer League table after defeating SuperSport United 3-0 in the Tshwane Derby on Wednesday evening at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The Brazilians took an early advantage just ten minutes into the game as Jayden Adams netted his first goal for the club since his arrival in the recently ended January transfer window.

Just when it seemed the match would go to the half-time interval with Downs leading by a score of one nil, Tashreeq Matthews doubled the lead for Masandawana in the 44th minute.

In the second half, that man again, Matthews, swiftly completed his brace as he scored a third goal for the Brazilians in the 49th minute. Siyabonga Ndebele of the Spartans was sent off after receiving a second yellow card just three minutes before the final whistle.

The win extended Sundowns' unbeaten league streak to nine matches since October of last year and elevated them to 39 points at the top of the PSL standings.

Meanwhile, struggling Matsatsantsa remained in 12th place in the table with only 16 points after 16 matches.

    THE MVP

Although almost all Sundowns players had a commendable performance, the recognition should go to Matthews for netting two goals on the evening.

Having recovered from a long-term injury, the 24-year-old star has been performing well for the South African champions.

    THE BIG LOSER

SuperSport United have been facing difficulties in achieving positive outcomes since the beginning of the season, placing pressure on Gavin Hunt.

Recent reports have suggested that Hunt's tenure at the Tshwane club is nearing its end. It remains uncertain whether the club's management will decide to take action.
