What Kaizer Chiefs need is consistency, and their case was helped greatly as they beat SuperSport United 2-1 to follow up on the previous week's 4-0 victory over Chippa United.
It was also the first time Chiefs had beaten SuperSport in five matches, and the first occasion since 2015 that Amakhosi have recorded an away win in the league over Matsatsantsa.

Kaizer Chiefs building up some steam

Bernard Parker became Amakhosi's all-time leading scorer in the PSL era in all competitions after his brace against SuperSport. He now has 60 goals to his name, two more than club legend Siphiwe Tshabalala.

At the same time, the achievement sees AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy's star rise further as he continues to carve himself out as a Bafana Bafana coach of the future who may well also have ambitions of coaching overseas one day.

Usuthu were joined in the group phase by Mamelodi Sundowns, who as expected, saw off Maniema Union 2-0 at home to give them a 4-2 aggregate win.

AmaZulu make their mark on the continent

Marumo Gallants may be struggling second from bottom in the league, but their African adventure continued as they booked their spot in the Confederation Cup play-off round after seeing off renowned DR Congo outfit AS Vita 3-2 on aggregate. This was thanks to a 1-1 draw in Kinshasa, with Sibusiso Ntuli netting an 89th minute goal.

Gallants surprise again

Orlando Pirates moved into the playoff round of the Caf Confederation Cup with a 1-0 win over Diables Noirs at Orlando Stadium on Sunday, giving them a 1-0 aggregate victory over two legs. Defender Happy Jele got the only goal and despite the victory, there remains a feeling that Bucs are not firing on all cylinders, especially upfront.

Pirates edge through

Cape Town City have had an up and down season, and with the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns looming large on Saturday, they needed a positive result against Golden Arrows as a bit of a morale-booster. That's what they got as they recorded a 4-3 win over the KZN side, although the two goals conceded in the final 10 minuets may be of concern to head coach Eric Tinkler.
