SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt confirms interest in former Kaizer Chiefs star Samir Norkovic - 'He is a big option for us'

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has made an admission regarding former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic.&nbsp;The 32-year-old goal-poacher is currently unattached since parting ways with TS Galaxy recently and he has been heavily linked with a move to the Tshwane outfit.&nbsp;With<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/big-blow-for-ex-kaizer-chiefs-coach-gavin-hunt-supersport-united-striker-bradley-grobler-sustains-injury-he-will-be-out-for-four-to-five-months/blt41aa6df6fda87adc" target="_blank"> Bradley Grobler currently out injured</a>, Hunt has confirmed that SuperSport could sign Nurkovic.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"He's a big option for us, obviously, if we can (afford him). He's become available, but I'm not the bean counter, so it works differently. There is a hurry because we've got a game on Saturday, and we're struggling up front. We're playing midfield players there, so it is a problem for us," Hunt said, per<a href="https://www.sabcsport.com/soccer/news/gavin-hunt-confirms-samir-nurkovic-interest" target="_blank"> SABC Sport</a>.&nbsp;"Hopefully we can do something between now and me getting on the phone again (to enquire about new players).&nbsp;"Boss, you're looking at anything at the moment. The window closes tomorrow, so we obviously need to get one or two in, but there's one or two pending, which hopefully can be done between now and tomorrow," explained the former Kaizer Chiefs trainer.&nbsp;"You've got to play with what you've got available, so you must never go away from that. If you haven't got – we've got three big players out, then you have to play a bit differently," he added.&nbsp;"I thought we did extremely well (against Sundowns), barring one slip here and there, but I mean, I don't think – our goalkeeper made one save, but it was sort of routine stuff."

WHAT WAS SAID

Should Nurkovic go on to join SuperSport United, he will be not a stranger to Hunt as the two worked together at Chiefs in the 2020/21 season.&nbsp; Matsatsantsa is currently relying on former Orlando Pirates striker Terrence Dzvukamanja as their target man in the absence of Grobler.&nbsp; The Swanky Boys failed to score goals in their <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/iqraam-rayners-and-lucas-ribeiro-fire-mamelodi-sundowns-to-tshwane-derby-triumph-over-rivals-supersport-united/blt3ec28ae96c50a249" target="_blank">league opener against Mamelodi Sundowns</a> in the Tshwane Derby on Tuesday.&nbsp;

It remains to be seen whether Nurkovic will&nbsp;become a SuperSport player before the transfer window closes on Friday midnight.&nbsp; The Tshwane giants will be looking to improve on their disappointing start to the season when they host Royal AM in a PSL clash on Saturday.&nbsp;
