Orlando Pirates suffered a 2-0 defeat to a struggling Sekhukhune United in a PSL encounter which played on Tuesday evening.

Bucs conceded twice in the closing proceedings as Babina Noko capitalized on the Soweto giants' mistakes at the back.

Several Pirates players underperformed on the night which saw the Soweto giants lose to the Limpopo side for the first time.

GOAL runs the rule over the individual performances of the Bucs players.

  • Richard Ofori of Orlando Pirates.Backpagepix.

    Richard Ofori - 5.5/10

    Started well, before making mistakes.

Ofori made three good saves to keep Sekhukhune at bay in the first half and he began misjudging the flight of the aerial balls and he had to be rescued by his teammates.

He is to blame for Sekhukhune's second goal as he gave away possession having left his goal-line unnecessarily and Vusumuzi Mncube punished him.

  • Thabiso Monyane of Orlando Pirates.Backpagepix.

    Thabiso Monyane - 5.5/10

    A mixed bag performance.
Monyane was threatening whenever he pushed forward - registering Pirates' first attempt on target.

However, he struggled defensively and he was sent off after fouling Mncube.

  • Paseka Mako of Orlando Pirates challenges Thabo Nodada of Cape Town City.Backpagepix

    Paseka Mako - 6/10

    Decent display.
Mako's delivery from wide areas was good finding his teammates who couldn't keep their efforts on target. He was also solid defensively being able to contain Tshegofatso Mabasa.

  • Innocent Maela, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Innocent Maela - 5.5/10

Endured a slow start to the game.
Maela intially struggled to deal with Sekhukhune's quick attackers at times, but he settled in well to lead his defence. He was substituted towards the end of the game.

  • Tapelo Xoki, Orlando Pirates, September 2022 Backpagepix

    Tapelo Xoki - 6/10

Rock-solid on his return to the team.
Xoki had a good game and looked like he belongs at the back for Pirates in a back three. His aerial prowess was important when the Buccaneers were defending.

  • Nkosinathi Sibisi Orlando Pirates 2020.Backpagepix.

    Nkosinathi Sibisi - 6/10

    Played well defensively.
Sibisi won his ground and aerial duels against Victor Letsoalo who had a quiet game. However, his passing was poor at times and Bucs nearly conceded after he had given away possession.

  • Miguel Timm, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Miguel Timm - 5/10

Looked average as a deep-lying midfielder.
Although Pirates enjoyed a majority of the possession with him at the centre of the pitch, they were susceptible to counter-attacks from the hosts as Timm failed to make interceptions.

  • Goodman Mosele, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Goodman Mosele - 6.5/10

    One of Pirates' better performers.

Mosele was busy in the middle of the park - carrying his team forward with his combination play. He also tracked back to help his side defend.

  • Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Orlando Pirates, October 2022Backpagepix

    Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo - 5/10

    Tried to make an impact.
Deployed as a left forward, Ndlondlo dropped into pockets of space to receive the ball. However, Sekhukhune dealt well with his attempted through and long passes.

  • Kabelo Dlamini, Orlando Pirates, March 2022Backpagepix

    Kabelo Dlamini - 4.5/10

    Poor performance.
Dlamini was handed a rare start and he struggled to make an impact as he gave away possession at times when Bucs were attacking. He was unsurprisingly substituted just after the hour-mark.

  • Zakhele Lepasa, Orlando Pirates, September 2022Backpagepix

    Zakhele Lepasa - 5.5/10

Not a good day at the office.
Lepasa was frustrated at times upfront due to a lack of supply from midfield. He did register a shot on target when he cut inside from the left and unleashed a shot that was saved by keeper Ali Badri Sangare.

  • Deon Hotto Orlando Pirates.Backpagepix.

    Deon Hotto - 6/10

Injected some needed urgency and creativity to Bucs' attack when he came on in the 64th minute - combining well with Kermit Erasmus and he was also denied by Sangare at the near-post.

  • Kermit Erasmus, Orlando Pirates, October 2022Backpagepix

    Kermit Erasmus - 5.5/10

Introduced in the 64th minute and got himself into good positions in the hosts' box, but he couldn't keep his attempts on target.

  • Vincent Pule, Orlando Pirates, August 2022Backpagepix

    Vincent Pule - 5/10

A pair of fresh legs for Bucs after coming on in the 64th minute, but he was closed down whenever he was in possession of the ball.

  • Bandile Shandu Orlando Pirates 2022.Backpagepix

    Bandile Shandu - 5/10

Also came on in the 64th minute and he was unable to create any major chances in an average performance for the Buccaneers.

  • Monnapule Saleng, Orlando Pirates, October 2022Backpagepix

    Monnapule Saleng - N/A

Didn't have enough time to make an impact as he came on with four minutes left.
