Orlando Pirates player ratings after dodging a bullet against Baroka FC

Evidence Makgopa, Baroka FC & Thulani Hlatshwayo, Orlando Pirates, November 2020
The Buccaneers came back to hold Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele to a 1-1 draw in a PSL match on Saturday afternoon. Goal rates the Bucs player performances

  1. Richard Ofori - 4/10

    #1 Richard Ofori - 4/10

Ofori had a relatively quiet afternoon, but his mistake led to the opening goal as he dropped the ball and Ananias Gebhardt scored and after that, he was not seriously tested.

  2. Wayde Jooste - 6/10

    #2 Wayde Jooste - 6/10

Continuously attacked down the right-hand side of the pitch, making runs in behind the opposition’s defence and he also did well to keep Tshidiso Patjie quiet.
  3. Paseka Mako - 5/10

    #3 Paseka Mako - 5/10

Disappointed going forward as he was kept busy by Baroka's speedy winger Thamsanqa Masiya and he was also sloppy in possession at times.
  4. Ntsikelelo Nyauza - 5/10

    #4 Ntsikelelo Nyauza - 5/10

Put under pressure from the start by the hard-running Evidence Makgopa's intensity and the defender looked uncomfortable in possession on several occasions.
  5. Thulani Hlatshwayo - 7/10

    #5 Thulani Hlatshwayo - 7/10

A composed performance that warrants the best rating of the Pirates defence as he was a calming presence in the backline and made some crucial clearances.

  6. Siphesihle Ndlovu - 7/10

    #6 Siphesihle Ndlovu - 7/10

A rare start, but a decent showing by the box-to-box midfielder, who won some good tackles in midfield and helped break up the play.

  7. Nkanyiso Zungu - 6/10

    #7 Nkanyiso Zungu - 6/10

Zungu controlled the match for Pirates in the first-half passing with authority and precision, but he looked off the pace in the second-half and he was replaced by Collins Makgaka.
  8. Linda Mntambo - 5/10

    #8 Linda Mntambo - 5/10

Handed a rare start and he had some nice touches as the final third, but he did not have the impact he would have wanted before going off in the 61st minute.
  9. Fortune Makaringe - 5/10

    #9 Fortune Makaringe - 5/10

Deployed behind the targetman Zakhele Lepasa and he took up some good positions high up the pitch, but too often lacked cutting edge on the ball.
  10. Terrence Dzvukamanja - 5/10

    #10 Terrence Dzvukamanja - 5/10

Failed to become a significant threat down the left-hand side and although he worked hard, Dzvukamanja did not contribute much to the overall play hence he was replaced by Deon Hotto.
  11. Zakhele Lepasa - 5/10

    #11 Zakhele Lepasa - 5/10

Looked isolated most of the time despite the amount of attacking talent surrounding him and did not do well holding up the ball as he was replaced by Frank Mhango.
  12. Tshegofatso Mabasa - 8/10

    #12 Tshegofatso Mabasa - 8/10

Showcased his immense energy after coming on in the 61st-minute making runs into good positions in the box which saw him grab the equalising goal from Hotto's cross.
  13. Deon Hotto - 8/10

    #13 Deon Hotto - 8/10

Easily transitioned into the pace of the game and he was a constant threat to Baroka's defence down the left-hand side as he managed to grab an assist.
  14. Frank Mhango - 5/10

    #14 Frank Mhango - 5/10

Came on to add an injection of pace and purpose to Pirates' attack with 12 minutes left, but he was unable to influence proceedings.
  15. Collins Makgaka - 5/10

    #15 Collins Makgaka - 5/10

Failed to create anything of note or add incisiveness to Pirates going forward after being introduced in the 78th minute.
