South Africa beat Malawi 5-0 in their opening Group C match at the 2024 Cosafa Under-20 Championships in Matola, Mozambique.Cape Town City midfielder Shakeel April grabbed a brace while his club teammate Jody Ah Shene grabbed another goal. Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Mamelodi Sundowns' Kutlwano Letlhaku were also on target.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Amajita had Club Brugge attacker Shandre Campbell starting the match together with Portugal-based goalkeeper Fletcher Smythe-Lowe.It was a big boost for South Africa as they chase the bigger goal of qualifying for the 2025 Fifa Under-20 World Cup.
