Nigeria supporters have implored the Nigeria Football Federation to hire Herve Renard after he guided Saudi Arabia to a shock 2-1 World Cup victory against Argentina.
The 54-year-old Renard pulled off one of the major upsets in the history of the global competition after the Green Falcons responded to Lionel Messi's opener from the penalty spot with second-half goals via Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari in the Group C fixture at Lusail Stadium.
Saudi Arabia's success has left Nigerians on social media believing Renard, who led Zambia and Ivory Coast to the 2021 and 2015 Afcon titles, could be the saviour of their dwindling fortunes if he takes charge.
Coach Herve Renard: Led Zambia to win the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, led Ivory Coast to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. He led Saudi Arabia to surprise Argentina at the 2022 World Cup. The type of coach we need for Nigeria's Super Eagles. - @IbiShittu
Here Renard is a very good coach, Nigeria should try to get him. But they need to stop owing their manager's salary. - @Jaymesafc
Nigeria should make sure Herve Renard becomes our manager immediately after the World Cup. - @iam_foleymessi
Herve Renard is exactly the type of manager Nigeria needs. - @tobaibai
Nigeria must sack Jose Peseiro and hire Herve Renard after this Qatar 2022 World Cup. He is the one to take us to the promised land. The guy is too good! What he has done in Zambia, Ivory Coast and now Saudi Arabia is beyond remarkable. - @MatthewOttah
If Nigeria hire Herve Renard, they'll win the Afcon for sure. - @AlabedeTobi
If Nigeria is a serious country, we should hire Herve Renard to fix our Super Eagles. He knows African football so well. - @The_olutee
I wish Nigeria could hire Herve Renard. He will definitely bring out the best in Osimhen. - @BiafranProudly
Renard is the best coach suited to work with Victor [Osimhen], he can mould the striker and make him one of the best in Europe, please NFF hire him. - @vincentbrian
Nigeria needs to employ Renard, look at the work he did with Zambia and Ivory Coast, even with Morocco, he tried but he was just not lucky. And now Saudi Arabia. Respect ✌️ - Respect to Renard. - @A_M_Raihan
Nigeria is a bigger football nation than Saudi Arabia but they have just done what Nigeria has never done. I wish we got Renard as our coach🙁 Well Kudos to them👏 - @pamelamodella
Herve Renard should be coaching Nigeria. Why do we keep appointing unknown people when there's a quality manager with a proven track record out there. - @KingHez_
Nigeria FA had the opportunity to make this man Herve Renard the coach, but no they went for Gernot Rohr second term, and Jose Peseiro followed too. Now you know the difference between teams that want to improve and wannabes. - @BriggsTohluh
Saudi Arabia has been the better team all game long. Renard has drilled this team and it shows. Nigeria will employ coaches that have failure written all over them and be expecting miracles. - @LateefAsiru
Even if Nigeria signs this Herve Renard, Super Eagles will still disgrace him with their poor performances. Look at how he's excelled with almost every team he has coached. Top notch👌 - @blastedup
NFF has never seen Renard. What they see for Nigeria are quacks. - @novieverest
Renard was available when Nigeria was looking for a coach but corruption will never allow them employ the best hand. I can't remember the last time Saudi Arabia win a match in World Cup but they did against the almighty Argentina. Let's see what Peseiro will achieve. - @CACCOT1
If you have watched any of Herve Renard team you should know this isn’t a fluke. I thought Nigeria would employ his services but corruption. - @iyamuvic007
