  • Mamelodi Sundowns v SuperSport United - August 2019 Themba Zwane

Having already opened his account in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Zwane was also recently on target in the MTN8, which undoubtedly makes him Sundowns' dangerman.

The 30-year-old has suggested he is eyeing the top scorer award this season, and his early performances certainly reflect his intentions.

  • Kermit Erasmus, Cape Town City, February 2019

A player with enough talent to set any stage alight, but Erasmus has often lacked consistency.

However, under the stewardship of Benni McCarthy at Cape Town City, Erasmus is ready to prove his doubters wrong.

He has already scored one goal this season, and his presence on the field means Sundowns' defenders cannot afford to lose focus.

Erasmus' record against Sundowns also speaks volumes - was on target in both PSL encounters against the Tshwane giants last season.

  • Mamelodi Sundowns v SuperSport United - August 2019 Rivaldo Coetzee

The defender, who has been converted to a defensive midfielder by Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane, continues to show maturity beyond his years.

Coetzee has already formed a solid partnership with Hlompho Kekana, and Mosimane may be keen to deploy the 22-year-old in order to break down City's attacks in the heart of the midfield.

  • Peter Leeuwenburgh of Cape Town City, September 2018

    Peter Leeuwenburgh

McCarthy has suggested the lanky shot-stopper might be the best goalkeeper in the league, and the coach is certainly not far off with his assessment.

Leeuwenburgh has been a rock for the Citizens.

Nonetheless, after conceding two goals in the MTN8 this past weekend against Polokwane City, the Dutch goalkeeper will be keen to help his side return to winning ways.

  • Cape Town City v Stellenbosch August 2019 Chris David and Benni McCarthy

    Chris David

While not much has been said of the Dutch playmaker, David has proved to be another astute signing by City.

His quick feet, skill and his eye for a goal make him one to watch.

In addition, his dead-ball prowess, particularly around the edge of the opposition's box, suggests Sundowns cannot afford to commit any silly fouls or they will be punished.
