Coach Rhulani Mokwena had a special bond with Mamelodi Sundowns players both on and off the pitch.However, their <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/rhulani-mokwena-off-to-winning-start-as-wydad-casablanca-shine-against-tanzanian-big-spenders-azam-fc/bltbb2f3ba8fd33543c" target="_blank">relationship was cut short a couple of weeks</a> ago when the 37-year-old parted ways with Masandawana.He has since been appointed as the Wydad Athletic Club coach, but as South Africa international Grant Kekana said, the impact felt by the players is huge.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"[Mokwena exit] was tough you know, like I kept telling you, we had a bond outside of just football you know and he’s helped me a lot," the 31-year-old told Metro FM."Especially in my personal life, how I look at things you know.&nbsp;It was a huge loss but we understand it’s also a part of football you know. As much as players come and go, so do coaches."The connection is still there but one can only wish him well because he’s done so much for me and the team. So we can only wish him well and yeah we can’t wait to meet with him be it in the Caf [Champions League or [African Football League]," Kekana concluded.

WHAT KEKANA SAID

At Wydad, Mokwena has been challenged to help the team get back to top positions in the Botola Pro League and a place in Caf Competitions after finishing sixth last season.Apart from winning the Premier Soccer League and challenging for domestic Cups, Sundowns will be chasing the Caf Champions League and probably defending the African Football League.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kekana has to work harder and ensure he stays fit throughout to help the Brazilians realise their objectives.It will be interesting to see whether he will muscle out Siyabonga Ngezana from the Bafana Bafana starting lineup after the latter's good performances.
