How have Bucs' loanees performed in the NFD?

The 2021/22 season is currently on a break and there are three Pirates players who are currently out on season-long loan deals at NFD clubs.

GOAL takes a look at how they performed thus far:

  • Thabiso Sesane, Jomo Cosmos, November 2021

    Thabiso Sesane

The talented defender quickly became a regular at Jomo Cosmos after joining the struggling NFD club at the end of August 2021.

Sesane has made 11 appearances across all competitions for Ezenkosi including the match against Uthongathi FC in the Nedbank Cup qualifying round.

The 21-year-old played four competitive matches for Pirates' first team before leaving on loan and he has been touted as a future regular for the Soweto giants.

  • Tshepo Mofokeng, Venda Academy Football, October 2021

    Tshepo Mofokeng

The Venda Football Academy attacking midfielder is in his second successive loan spell in the NFD having spent last season with Sekhukhune United.

Mofokeng, 25, has been mainly used as an impact player at Venda having played 13 matches in the league and 10 of his appearances came as a substitute.

His exploits in the second tier of South African football have reportedly caught the eye of Pirates' technical team which is led by co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids.

  • Azola Tshobeni, JDR Stars, December 2021

    Azola Tshobeni

The teenager is currently on his first loan stint as a professional footballer and he has mainly featured as a substitute at NFD promotion hopefuls, JDR Stars.

Tshobeni has made six appearances for Stars in the league including just one start as the Pretoria-based side push for promotion to the PSL.

It remains to be seen whether Pirates will recall the 19-year-old attacking midfielder during the current transfer window due to his lack of regular game at Stars.

  • Monnapule Saleng, Swallows FC, December 2021

How have Pirates loanees performed in PSL?

There are four Pirates players who are currently out on season-long loan deals at PSL clubs.

GOAL recently took a look at how they have performed thus far:

  • Siphesihle Ndlovu, Orlando Pirates, October 2020

Who could leave Pirates on loan?

Pirates midfielders Nkanyiso Zungu and Siphesihle Ndlovu could reportedly leave Bucs on loan in the current transfer window.

AmaZulu FC and Stellenbosch FC have been credited with an interest in Zungu, while Maritzburg United and Cape Town City are believed to be interested in Ndlovu.

The duo has found game time hard to come by at Bucs this season.
