<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/official-ex-mamelodi-sundowns-and-kaizer-chiefs-star-khama-billiat-unveiled-by-zim-psl-club/blt00cb135a38296d86" target="_blank">Billiat completed his transfer to Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League side Yadah FC</a> to end an eight-month search for a new club after leaving Kaizer Chiefs in June 2023.Following attempts to join Cape Town City and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/supersport-united-considering-signing-ex-kaizer-chiefs-attacker-khama-billiat-club-official-responds/blt1083bbe00e19d89c" target="_blank">SuperSport United drew blanks</a>, the 33-year-old opted to revive his career in his home country.It is a move viewed by some as taking steps backwards in his career but Willard Katsande, who is a Chiefs and Zimbabwean football legend, believes it was the right move.

WHAT HAPPENED?

“He is like Ronaldo moving from Europe to Asia. So he is going to boost every team in the League,” Katsande told&nbsp;<a href="https://farpost.co.za/2024/02/22/katsande-reacts-to-khama-billiats-move-back-to-zimbabwe/" target="_blank">FARPost</a>.“I am sure every player in the PSL [in Zimbabwe] can’t wait to start the season and there is a reason why they need to play well. There is a reason why they have to play against Yadah.“The team he is going to, I know the owner is a very good friend of mine and I know him personally. So in terms of professionalism, he is in a good space where he just needs to focus on football. It is a good decision for him to go there to revive his career, especially in this difficult moment,” he continued.“We know that he didn’t play for close to a year. So he needs space where he is going to be comfortable to try to come up again."He just needs a different environment whereby he kicks start again. He is a fragile boy, I know him very well so I think it was a good move for him. There is nothing wrong [with his move], look at Ronaldo," he explained. "He went to Saudi Arabia and he is still scoring goals. We also need him to get out of retirement and help us qualify for the World Cup.”

WHAT KATSANDE SAID

<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/khama-billiat-agent-blamed-for-the-zimbabwean-star-s-failure-to-renew-kaizer-chiefs-contract/bltca8b5baa8067c26c" target="_blank">Billiat's move back to Zimbabwe has been largely credited to a lack of representation</a> after he parted ways with intermediary Michael Ngobeni in 2020. He then roped in, as his agent, childhood friend Godfrey 'Vokal' Bakasa who is also a music producer and artist promoter with no experience in player management. It is now to be seen if Billiat will be influential at his new team Yadah or be able to take the Zimbabwean PSL by storm.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Katsande hopes Billiat revives his career in Zimbabwe and be able to come out of international retirement to help the Warriors for the Fifa World Cup for the first time.But that would need the former Ajax Cape Town star to get back to the top of his game with Yadah set set to kick off the 2024 season in early March.
