Orlando Pirates have announced the release of Lesedi Kapinga from his contract after just one season at the club.The midfielder managed just 13 appearances in all competitions for the Soweto giants last term and was yet to feature for the club this season.The 13 appearances included just two starts and the club has decided to part ways with the player who arrived at Pirates from Mamelodi Sundowns.

WHAT HAPPENED?

"Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Lesedi Kapinga for the early release of his contract," <a href="https://www.orlandopiratesfc.com/news/thank-you-lesedi/" target="_blank">Pirates said in a statement.</a>"Both parties have agreed to amicably part ways following a meeting earlier today."On behalf of the extended Orlando Pirates family, we would like to thank Lesedi for his time at the Club and we wish him all the best for the future."

WHAT PIRATES SAID

It was getting increasingly difficult for Kapinga to earn some playing minutes in a Pirates midfield stacked with quality players.Coach Jose Riveirio considered the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi, Thalente Mbatha, Karim Kimvuidi and Kabelo Dlamini ahead of Kapinga.

Now a free agent, Kapinga is not limited by the PSL transfer window and can join a club of his choice anytime.He is an experienced player who could be valuable to any club, but he would prefer to find a new team as soon as possible before he becomes a forgotten player.
