Who will be the hero for Pirates?

All eyes will be on this highly-anticipated final on Friday, as Pirates look to win the Confederation Cup for the first time in the club's history.

Which Bucs players have the potential to decide the match?

    GOAL takes a look:

  • Goodman Mosele, Orlando Pirates, September 2021Backpagepix

    Goodman Mosele

The 22-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of Pirates' key players and he is the man who makes the Soweto giants tick in the middle of the park.

A strongly built player, who likes to make powerful runs from midfield, Mosele scored in the semi-final first-leg clash against Libya's Al Ahli Tripoli and he also provided two assists in the competition.

His performance in midfield will be vital for the Buccaneers as they look to overcome the 2020 Confederation Cup champions.

  • Deon Hotto, Orlando Pirates, November 2021Backpagepix

    Deon Hotto

The flying winger has undoubtedly been Pirates' best attacker this season - creating and scoring goals for the 1995 African champions.

Blessed with an educated left-foot, Hotto's delivery from set-pieces is usually top-notch having registered eight assists and five of them coming in the Confederation Cup.

Hotto is also a threat in front of goal having netted seven goals this term, but his delivery from set-pieces could be key to a Bucs win on the night.

  • Richard Ofori, Orlando Pirates, March 2022Backpagepix

    Richard Ofori

The Ghana international has been in great form in the Confederation Cup since he returned from his long-term injury three months ago.

Ofori, who is an imposing goalkeeper with great reflex saves, has impressively kept five clean sheets from seven matches in the competition and he was the hero in the penalty shootout win over Simba of Tanzania in the quarter-finals.

The 28-year-old will be looking to frustrate Berkane players by making vital saves, ensuring that the Buccaneers walk away victorious.

  • Thembinkosi Lorch, Orlando Pirates, December 2021Backpagepix

    Thembinkosi Lorch

The 2018/19 PSL Footballer of the Year has looked hungry and determined since he returned from his recent injury.

A tricky forward whose main traits are speed, technique, and trickery in possession, Lorch tends to bring his A-game to big matches having inspired Pirates to the 2020 MTN8 final triumph.

Lorch, who scored Bafana Bafana's goal which eliminated Egypt from the 2019 Afcon finals, has the ability to single-handedly inspire Bucs to a win over Berkane.

  • Bandile Shandu Orlando Pirates 2022.Backpagepix

    Bandile Shandu

The new Bafana Bafana international has been one of the standout performers in this season's Confederation Cup.

Shandu has caught the eye with his ability to pop up in goalscoring positions while operating as a right-back or right-winger and he has netted four goals in the tournament.

Only Victorien Adebayor of USGN has netted more goals than Shandu in the competition and the quick player's elusive movement is likely to unsettle the Berkane defence.
