Broos admits it was not an easy outing for his men, saying they faced problems and panicked after Benin pulled one goal back.“Sure I’m happy, it was not an easy game,” Broos told SABC1 as per <a href="https://www.idiskitimes.co.za/bafana-bafana/frustrated-broos-we-dont-have-those-players/" target="_blank">iDiski Times</a>.“But I said already don’t underestimate the opponent, they play a simple game – kick in front and then fighting for the ball. “We had some problems in the second half and with the goal they scored there was a little panic in the group but ok, the most important thing for qualifiers is to win the games and we did.”

A little panic for Bafana

Broos says Benin tried to use their height advantage but it did not work for the Cheetahs who had to deal with shorter Bafana players.“Against the game that Benin played it’s very difficult, you also need guys of 1.90m height, we don’t have them," said the Belgian.“They kicked always the ball to that long player, and then with the header and then the second ball and this is difficult to defend."

Benin's superior height 

The West Africans rarely troubled Bafana throughout the game but they managed to bury the only chance of the match that came their way.“But ok, they only had that one chance and it was a goal," added the Bafana coach."At the other side we had two little chances to score the third goal, then the game would’ve been finished. But the goal from Benin it was to the end suspense.”

One chance, one goal for Benin

Rohr believes his side could have taken advantage of their second-half dominance to at least force a draw."Two different half times," Rohr told&nbsp;SABC Sport TV as per <a href="https://www.snl24.com/kickoff/worldnews/african-football/gernot-rohr-praises-benin-second-half-response-against-bafana-bafana-20231118" target="_blank">KickOff.</a>"In the first half it was a big domination of Bafana Bafana, the second time we had a better game, we could even come back to 2-2 draw but in the end we could not."But I was satisfied with my performance in the second-half because the reaction was very well. It's always difficult when you concede a goal in the first minute and the last minute of half-time."

Second half belonged to Benin and could have salvaged a draw

Benin remain camped in Durban where they will take on Lesotho in their next Group C match on Tuesday.But the Crocodiles are a big threat after they held Nigeria 1-1 in Uyo last Wednesday."We'll have a big game against Lesotho, they played already two days ago, so they have two days of rest more, of recovery but we have to work immediately to be ready for Tuesday at the same stadium but it can be an advantage because we know it now and I hope we will win the match," said Rohr.
