Pitso Mosimane’s arrival at Esteghlal has seen a challenging start as he navigates the task of revitalizing his team’s performance.
Esteghlal’s latest setback came with a 2-0 defeat to league leaders Tractor, marking their first loss against them in five meetings.
Just five days earlier, Esteghlal fell to Kheybar Khorramabad FC in a 3-1 defeat, prompting Mosimane to openly question the mentality and resolve of his players.
Despite his rallying call for improved attitude, his second game in charge saw more of the same struggles, as Esteghlal was unable to respond to Tractor’s second-half goals from Aref Aghasi in the 56th minute and Sajjad Ashouri in the 87th minute.
This defeat places Esteghlal in a difficult position, sitting in 12th place in the Persian Gulf Pro League with just eight points from nine matches and they are three points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Tractor climbed to the top of the standings with 19 points, putting the gap between the two teams in stark contrast.
Esteghlal’s form has been particularly shaky, with only one win from their last five games, adding pressure on Mosimane.
