Seven first team players have refused to travel with the team to Mbeya for their Ligi Kuu clash

At least seven first team Yanga players have refused to travel with the team to Mbeya for their Ligi Kuu clash against Tanzania Prison in protest over the non-payment of salaries for the past three to four months.

Papy Tshishimbi, Kelvin Yondani, Ibrahim Ajib and Obrey Chirwa didn’t make the squad to Algeria for their Caf Confederation Cup with USM Alger last Sunday and they have been joined by Youthe Rostand. Other players are Donald Ngoma and Thaban Kamusoko.

Yanga have passed through a huge financial crisis and they are on the verge of losing their Ligi Kuu title to Simba this weekend.

The Jangwani club will play Prison today and a win could delay Simba's title for at least a further two days before the Wekundu wa Msimbazi play Singida United on Saturday.

Yanga are in the Caf Confederation Cup group stage and they opened their campaign with a heavy loss of 4-0 against USM Alger, their second game will be on May 16 were they will play host to Rayon Sports.

Early in April, their then Head Coach George Lwandamina departed the club for the same claims and he is now managing his former club Zesco United in Zambia.
