Zambian Champions, Zesco United have confirmed Yanga’s George 'Chicken' Lwandamina as their new head coach after the departure of Tenant Chembo.
Goal understands that the former Chipolopolo defender has signed a pre-contract with the Ndola based side and will take over at the end of next month.
Lwandamina will be returning to Zesco for his second spell having left them to join the Jangwani Boys in 2016. He led Yanga to the Premier League title in his debut season.
Goal takes a look at the Coaches who can replace Lwandamina at Yanga next season.
Hans van Pluijm
The name Hans van der Pluijm will be in the head of every Yanga fan at this time, this is because he was a favorite among fans when he managed the Jangwani outfit.
He joined Yanga initially for a six months contract from Ghana’s Berkom for the first time in 2013 and won the Premier League in his debut season.
At the end of that season he turned down the chance to sign a long term contract because and headed to Qatar for another job.
He won the Premier League two seasons in row and an FA cup before being replaced by George Lwandamina in 2016 after guiding the Jangwani Boys to reach the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in 18 years.
Pluijm is famous for his beautiful style of play, where the team gets forward in terrific speed with a lot of creativity up front.
Currently, he is Singida United's Head Coach and it remains to be seen if Yanga will lure him back to their dugout for next season.
The former Vital’O man, was earlier in the season recommended to replace the then departing Yanga Assistant Coach, Juma Mwambusi.
However, he dismissed the rumors by saying that “I am willing to join Yanga only if I get the Head Coach position”.
That was not possible at that time because George Lwandamina was there as Head Coach and Yanga decided to promote Shadrack Nsajigwa from Yanga B to be the assistant coach to help the Zambian coach.
This will be the ideal time for Ndayiragije to get his wishes if Yanga will turn back to him.
Currently, he is the Coach of struggling side Mbao FC where they sit among the bottom three clubs at the table.
The name of Ndayiragije grew last season where he led the then Premier League debutants, Mbao FC to the FA Cup final where they lost to Simba.
Mostly, known for his technical acumen which has helped his side get good results when they play against the top teams.
His records against big teams especially when they play at the CCM Kirumba stadium since last season is impressive and Yanga will be getting a good coach with a lot of promise if they indeed go for him to replace Lwandamina.
Yanga’s current General Secretary, but also a high profile coach in the land. He was a Yanga player during his playing days and he has managed the team several times.
His last job was with the Tanzania National Football Team in 2016. He presents a good deal for Yanga if they will give him the team, considering their financial woes at the moment.
He was part of the backroom staff under Pluijm back in 2015 before the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) named him as Tanzania Head Coach.
The former Yanga Captain and Yanga B Coach, was promoted prior to this season to replace the then departed Assistant Coach, Juma Mwambusi who left the club in July 2017.
He has guided Yanga as interim boss in several matches this season including the Mapinduzi Cup campaign.
However, experience in managing successfully in the Ligi Kuu could be chief among reasons as to why he misses the post, but Nsajigwa will definitely be among the names which will be considered by Yanga’s Executive Board.
