VIDEO: Sanogo gifted his first goal in over a year... and Arsenal fans are loving it

Arsenal forward Yaya Sanogo capitalised on some woeful defending to score his first goal in over a year.

Arsenal fans go wild over Sanogo start

The French striker was named in the starting XI to face Tottenham Under-23s on Friday, having not featured for the Gunners since December 2014.

His last goal came while on a loan spell with Charlton Athletic, where he scored a hat-trick in a 4-3 defeat to Reading in February 2016.

But having made his first appearance of the season in a Gunners shirt, albeit at reserve level, he took his chance to opening the scoring for the Gunners.

It was thanks to some slack play from Spurs, however, as the ball inadvertently cannoned back off of Carl Jenkinson and straight into Sanogo's path.

The 24-year-old hit his low shot straight at Pau Lopez, although the keeper could only parry the effort into his net to gift Arsenal the lead.

And having initially got excited, albeit with a degree of tongue-in-cheek, over Sanogo's inclusion in the line-up, Gunners supporters were even more delighted to hear that he'd got himself on the scoresheet.
