Under-17 World Cup: Ghana coach - Expect a good tournament from us

Ghana are keen to win their third Under-17 World Cup this time around having last clinched it back in 1995.

In 1997 and 2003, they finished runners-up and coach Samuel Kwasi Fabin is focused on working hard so that his team can lift the trophy in Kolkata on October 28.

“We are not travelling to India just to add up to the numbers. We are going to work hard to win the ultimate but I don’t want to promise. I just want to tell Ghanaians that they should expect a very good tournament from the team,” he was quoted saying.

Ghana are placed alongside India, Colombia and USA in Group A of the Under-17 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Ghana government has planned some surprise monetary packages for their team besides the bonus of 1000 USD per match.

“We are cool with the bonus because money is not everything. We are rather hoping to win all our matches and win the trophy at the end of the tournament because that will be good for our careers,” said skipper Eric Eyiah, who is the star striker of the Ghana team and dons the number six jersey.
