Ulinzi Stars coach explains friendly defeat to Tusker

Ulinzi Stars coach Dunstan Nyaudo has explained why they lost 3-1 to Tusker in a friendly on Saturday.

With the Fifa international break taking centre stage, a number of teams opted for friendly matches with the soldiers’ traveling to Nairobi to face the former league champions at Ruaraka grounds.

However, goals from Michal Khamati, Edwin Lavasta and Timothy Otieno were enough for the brewers’ to earn sweet revenge against a side that beat them by a solitary goal in the first leg of the league.

Coach Nyaudo is however, not concerned with the outcome saying he used the friendly to gauge the 'rest of the squad'. “I rested four players who are my regular starters because they have always been playing since we started the season till now.

“So I wanted to test those who have not been playing as well so I can see how well they can come into the team because you are never sure, when you will lose that player you depend on so much,” Nyaudo told the club’s official website.

Nyaudo maintained that he was impressed with the display of some of the players and especially the build up from defence. “I am happy with the pressing part of our game; the way we were pressing from midfield and coming up from the defence and generally the build-up was the more important aspect of this game for me.”

Ulinzi Stars will face Kariobangi Sharks after the break while Tusker will be up against AFC Leopards.
