Alwanga, who was released by the Brewers last December, will have a chance to re-unite with his former boss, Francis Kimanzi whom he worked with at Tusker about two years ago.
Alwanga’s arrival is expected to add depth in Mathare United’s forward that has the likes of youngsters Chris Ochieng’, Derrick Onyango and 2017 revelation Elijah Mwanzia.
“I am happy to be here because this is a chance to revive my career. I have worked with Coach (Francis) Kimanzi before and I know what is expected of me,” said Alwanga.
Alwanga joins the side that struggled last season, having secured their place in the 2018 Kenya Premier League on the last day.
“My target is to get more playing time and score at least 15 goals. Hopefully, I will be a top contender for the top scorer award.”
With the acquisition of top-class player in Alwanga, Mathare United will be hoping to do better than their 13th place finish last season.
The 'Slum Boys' will kick off their 2018 season with a match against newly promoted side, Vihiga United.
