EXCLUSIVE: The Red and Black are in the hunt for the departing Jets striker

Western Sydney Wanderers have put an offer to Roy O'Donovan as it was revealed the Irish striker was departing the Newcastle Jets on Monday.

The Covert Agent can reveal the Wanderers are keen to replace Spanish centre-forward Oriol Riera with O'Donovan - who the Jets announced was leaving the Hunter Valley after failing to agree to terms.

But it's not only Markus Babbel's Wanderers keen on the 33-year-old with his former Liverpool teammate Robbie Fowler's Brisbane Roar also interested in O'Donovan leading their line next season, according to the Herald Sun.

Both Fowler and O'Donovan share the same representation in Australian agent Paddy Dominguez.

O'Donovan scored an impressive 11 goals in 19 matches for the Jets this season after missing the first eight matches of the campaign because of suspension from the 2017-18 grand final.

His total goal contribution to the Jets is 20 strikes in 37 appearances after joining from derby rivals Central Coast in 2017.

O'Donovan was a hit in Gosford also, getting eight and 11 goals in his two campaigns for the Mariners.
