Sylvester Igboun leads Ufa to victory vs. Anzhi Makhachkala

The Nigeria forward’s early strike gave the Townspeople the crucial lead over the Yellow-Greens in the Russian topflight

Sylvester Igboun opened the goal account for Ufa in their 3-0 win over Anzhi Makhachkala in a Russian Premier League encounter on Monday.

In the third minute, the striker headed the ball past Yuri Dyupin, following a brilliant cross from Ivan Oblyakov.

A late double from Ondrej Vanek wrapped up victory for Sergei Tomarov’s men; their first in the two-week old league campaign.

The result took them to the third spot in Russian top-flight log. And the goal was the Nigeria international's first of the season.

Ufa now shift focus to their third round qualifying Europa League tie against Progres Niederkorn on Thursday before they slug it out with Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League on Monday, and the 27-year-old will hope to stretch his scoring form.
