‘South Africa won’t be easy’ - Nigeria’s Francis Uzoho

After passing Libya’s test, Francis Uzoho has set his sights on Nigeria’s next African Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa; an encounter he said ‘won’t be easy’.

Striker Odion Ighalo put up another five-star performance to ensure the Super Eagles held off the north Africans' scare, winning 3-2 in Sfax, Tunisia.

Gernot Rohr’s men had won the first leg comfortably in Uyo, putting four unreplied goals past their hapless visitors - with the China-based striker grabbing his first hat-trick in the national team colours.

However, on Tuesday, they had to deal with a much improved Libya side, with an 81st-minute winner from the Changchun Yatai marksman helping them to the summit of Group E.

And they face second-placed Bafana Bafana on November 16; one the Elche shot-stopper insists will not come easy.

“Personally, the match in Tunisia was more difficult than the one in Uyo,” said Uzoho after the game.

“The weather was different and it was a much smaller pitch than what we have in Uyo. And so we did not have enough space to run at the Libyan defence in Tunisia, and they were able to somehow contain us.

“The Eagles will take the game against South Africa very seriously because we have never underrated any team we have come up against.

“We know it won’t be an easy game.”

Having kept the doubleheader against Libya, Uzoho, on Friday evening, returns to club football as Elche prepare to face Malaga in a Spanish Segunda tie.

Since his loan arrival from Deportivo La Coruna this summer, the young goalkeeper has yet to play in a league game, with his only appearance coming in the Copa Del Rey.
