One hurdle remains between Spurs star Son Heung-Min and the Asian Games gold medal, as well as an uninterrupted club career at the London club.

Only one hurdle remains in South Korea U-23's bid to defend their men's football gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games. The  Taegeuk Warriors  will take on Japan U-23 in the final match on Saturday, at the Pakansari Stadium.

Their star Son Heung-min has reiterated his target of returning to his club, Tottenham Hotspur with a gold medal, in order to obtain an exemption from his country's military service, and keep his club career in Europe on track.

"Ben Davis (Spurs' left back) constantly told me 'Good luck' before I left for the Asiad. I intend to return to the club with a gold medal," said the winger who recently extended his contract at the London club until 2023.

"We know the final match will not be easy. The manager and I keep reminding the team that we have to play in the final as well as we did in our first match.

"I know I have to lead by example (as one of the three overaged players in the squad). Most of the team are younger than I am, but I am willing to do what it takes for the sake of the team."
